Thanks Graham for your detailed response. I agree that this feature can indeed add a lot of confusion to the code. Especially if someone adds an attribute to a function outside the body of the function definition, then it can be a nightmare to maintain or modify the code. This is perhaps one of those things that one should be aware of, but not use.
